The BFG (PG)

A child is chosen to live in a fantasy world of giants.

Independence Day: Resurgence (PG-13)

This movie successfully packs action, suspense, humor and sci-if all in one movie. The aliens have figured out another more clever way to attack the world. This time its using a ship that is 10 times bigger, like the size of the Atlantic Ocean bigger. The way the aliens are defeated is even more clever. There are plenty of characters from the first Installment that successfully pulls everything together in this film. Despite a slow pace in the beginning - this is a solid film. MEVOE grade: A-

The Purge: Election Year (R)

The bloody, ruthless tradition of kill or be killed returns to theaters this month. This time, the purge process focuses on a senator who survived the purge and now wants to put an end to the annual killing. She finds out very quickly that going against tradition puts a bullseye on her back to be purged. This movie maintains its bloody killings. However, the acting quality felll down another notch for this third Purge movie. You can have only so many angles before the sequels seem predictable. Overall, its entertaining if you are a fan of the Purge movies.       MEVOE Grade: B

The Legend of Tarzan (PG-13)

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (R)

Two brothers Dave (Zac Efron) and Mike (Adam Devine) want to impress their family at their sister's wedding with picture perfect dates. The brothers post an ad and they come across some weird women - until they find the perfect match during a car accident. This movie is surprisingly funny and maintains a good pace. Yes, there are some jokes that you may not get but its minor compared to the amount of over the stop stunts and funny moments that are perfect. Efron and Devine play their roles perfectly! Expect to laugh for an hour and a half.

Star Trek Beyond (PG-13)

The crew is set on a mission to help an ally, when they are swarmed by an unknown enemy. The ship is destroyed beyond repair as they fly through a nebulae while being attacked by the powerful enemy Krall, who is mysterious and ruthless. However, the crew finds help in some of Krall's victims. The movie has brilliant flashbacks and slowly but effectively brings the movie together without making it completely predictable. You won't know the truth until the very end, and you'll enjoy the journey. The acting, production and overall plot are great! Enjoy the entire two hours and two minutes of this film.

Ghostbusters (PG-13)

Remaking any classic movie, is a dangerous move. However, this remake of Ghostbusters with an all female crew, didn't disappoint. An anti-social man who loves tapping into the outer world believes its time to destroy humans with ghosts. Three scientists and a resourceful transportation worker come together to form Ghostbusters. If you had the privilege of seeing the original film you will compare the two almost instantly. For the most part, the 2016 version stays true to outfits, their ghost busting mobile and of course destroying ghosts. This film is disappointing with some of the writing. The jokes are hit or miss. Secondly, some of the acting isn't always effective. A highlight in the film will be the cameo appearances of cast members from the first film. The entire family can watch this and get a laugh. However there's nothing like seeing the original.

Bad Moms (Rated-R)

Honest and hilarious sums up the struggle of modern day moms in this movie. Amy (Mila Kunis) is the main mom and keeps the story going. Amy is married to a man who is successful, but acts like a child most of the time. This puts Amy in a tough spot as a mother of two, who does everything for everyone. Until one day, she's had enough of the perfect mom expectations and rebels with Kiki and Carla, two moms that are stressed beyond belief too! The first five minutes of this movie starts off rough. The acting seems inauthentic. However, once the conflict hits, everything falls into place for these three moms. Expect to laugh and get an honest look into the lives of moms in 2016.
